You know how important your smile is to your day-to-day life. Whether the context is business or your personal relationships, a clean, bright smile makes everything just a little easier and more pleasant. That’s why Dr. Lindsey Marshall offers porcelain veneers for her Philadelphia-area patients who are dealing with chipped, cracked or stained teeth.
Porcelain veneers are excellent options if you want a safe, simple procedure that can address many of your smile complaints.
Of the many porcelain veneer questions our patients have, one of the most common is, “How do they feel?” After all, it’s nice to have a good-looking smile, but if your porcelain veneers feel awkward and uncomfortable then you’ll constantly be aware of them, which is not an ideal situation. Fortunately, porcelain veneers are neither awkward nor uncomfortable.
Many patients are able to get porcelain veneers without any anesthesia necessary. Whether or not you require anesthesia will be determined by Dr. Marshall after she evaluates the severity of your condition to be addressed. Generally speaking the porcelain veneer procedure causes very little pain or discomfort.
After the procedure, your porcelain veneers are almost completely indistinguishable from your natural tooth enamel, both in look and feel. When you run your tongue over your teeth you will not be able to tell the difference between your enamel and your porcelain veneers.
If you’re a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania resident considering porcelain veneers, please contact Dr. Lindsey Marshall, DMD, to arrange a consultation.

Missing teeth present a pressing oral health issue; they put you at risk for a wide range of future complications. Dental implants are excellent options for our Philadelphia-area patients who are worried that missing teeth could damage their dental health. With a safe, simple procedure Dr. Lindsey Marshall can fit you with a dental implant that looks and feels just like your natural teeth.
While the dental implant recovery process is long and extensive, the health benefits of the procedure make it worth your time investment.
Every case is unique, and your precise recovery time will be determined by the extent of your dental implant surgery. Put simply, the more extensive the surgery, the longer the recovery time. Dr. Marshall will be able to walk you through your recovery process before you undergo the procedure.
Assuming you don’t require any bone grafts, after your damaged tooth is removed Dr. Marshall will place a titanium post in the appropriate place. Your body will then take between three and six months to integrate this support rod into your jaw bone.
Once that process is complete, and depending on whether or not Dr. Marshall placed the abutment your dental crown will rest on at the initial surgery, we will take an impression of your teeth and then place the crown on top of the entire arrangement.
After each stage in the process you will need to restrict your diet to soft foods for about 10 to 14 days afterward.
Dr. Marshall is happy to answer any dental implant questions you might have, including questions about recovery.

Missing teeth are not just a cosmetic issue, though they do make even the whitest, brightest smile look unattractive. They put you at risk of more serious oral health issues down the road.. Fortunately, Dr. Lindsey Marshall can replace the missing teeth of her Ardmore-area patients with attractive and sturdy dental implants, a dental tool she has more than a decade of experience using.
Dr. Marshall will be able to answer all of your dental implant questions at your initial consultation and before you undergo the procedure. However, it’s important to emphasize that proper dental hygiene and maintenance are still crucial after receiving your dental implants.
Gum disease affects almost 30 percent of the adult American population, and even patients with dental implants have to take the steps necessary to ensure they don’t become part of that list.
Like your natural teeth, dental implants are vulnerable to gum disease and plaque. Your gums are the foundation of your dental health, and if they aren’t sound then it may affect the long-term viability of your dental implants and general oral health.
Luckily, preventing plaque and gum disease and keeping your new dental implants healthy is a relatively simple task. Maintain good dental hygiene by brushing and flossing and visit Dr. Marshall for frequent, regularly scheduled cleanings and your smile will remain bright and photogenic.
As gum disease is also a leading cause of tooth loss, Dr. Marshall will have to get your gum disease under control before she can provide you with a dental implant.

For some people, excess gum tissue may cause teeth to seem small or misshapen by covering too much of the tooth’s surface. This is what’s known as a “gummy smile.” Aesthetic gum problems can be embarrassing, compromising an otherwise beautiful smile. Thankfully, gum recontouring can address this problem and transform your appearance.
An uneven gum line can be the result of multiple factors. Genetics, age, and certain medical conditions and/or medications can cause gums to recede or “swallow” the tooth. Dr. Marshall uses a soft tissue laser to perform gum recontouring. This state-of-the-art laser allows us to trim your gumline in a sterile and precise manner, with very little discomfort. This process also protects the remaining gum tissue by cauterizing the gum lines, minimizing bleeding and preventing infection.
If you are tired of hiding your smile because of unsightly gums, our experienced Philadelphia dentist Dr. Lindsey Marshall can determine if gum recontouring is right for you. Some patients choose to combine gum recontouring with porcelain veneers to get their entire smile back on track.

Cavities are an all-too-common dental problem. Despite being the hardest substance in the human body, your teeth remain vulnerable to decay. Tooth decay is the cause of cavities, and can affect both the inner and outer layers of the tooth. Decay is most often the result of carbohydrates – such as milk, bread, and sweets – coating the teeth and coming into contact with the bacteria that naturally occur in the mouth.
As the bacteria transform the carbohydrates into acids, saliva and additional food particles intermingle and become plaque. It is this plaque that erodes the enamel, or hard outer layer, and eventually leads to holes in the tooth.
Adults are just as prone to cavities as children. Aging can compound oral problems; issues such as gum recession, exposed tooth roots, and compromised fillings arise and create the gaps in which plaque and decay settle. Good brushing and flossing habits at home, and regular professional tooth cleanings at our office can help you prevent cavities and avoid more complex dental issues in the future. If you do have a cavity, we can treat it by placing a tooth-colored filling.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve seen a Philadelphia dentist to check for cavities, please contact Lindsey Marshall, DMD today to schedule an initial consultation. We serve patients throughout Philadelphia, Main Line, and Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Few people are born with perfectly straight teeth. If the jaw doesn’t line up correctly as it grows, teeth can shift or become crowded, leading to a misaligned bite and crooked teeth. Crooked teeth not only mar the appearance of your smile, they can also cause a host of dental problems. It may be more difficult to maintain good oral hygiene, since food can get lodged in the nooks and cracks created by crooked teeth. Chewing or speaking may be impaired or even painful in certain cases. Additionally, crooked teeth can put strain on your jaw as it attempts to realign to compensate for your uneven bite.
Orthodontics is the best way to correct crooked teeth. If overcrowding is an issue, one or more teeth may be removed to allow room for others to straighten. If the thought of wearing metal braces makes you uncomfortable, you may be a good candidate for Invisalign®. Using clear plastic teeth aligners, Invisalign® enables us to straighten your teeth without cumbersome brackets and wires.
Whether you dislike the appearance of your crooked teeth, or are experiencing discomfort because of them, we can help. Our experienced Philadelphia dentist Dr. Lindsey Marshall has the advanced dental technology and years of experience you need to achieve the best smile possible.
If you are interested in transforming your smile, please contact Lindsey Marshall, DMD today to schedule an initial consultation. We serve patients throughout Philadelphia, Main Line, and Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Tooth whitening can remove tooth stains caused by many different things. Darkened, yellowed or otherwise discolored teeth can be embarrassing, and tooth whitening provides a relatively fast, simple way to brighten your smile.
Some of the causes of darkened teeth include:
- Aging, which wears away some of the enamel on your teeth and reveals more of the darkened hue of the underlying dentin.
- Tobacco use, including smoking and chewing.
- Certain foods and beverages, including tomato sauce, wine, soda and other acidic products.
- Poor dental hygiene, which is necessary to remove dental plaque on your teeth that can collect stain-causing food debris.
- Dental restorations, such as porcelain-fused-to-metal tooth crowns and amalgam fillings.
Tooth whitening restores your teeth to a brighter, whiter color. Your tooth color can be customized to the brightness you want.
Although there are many options for tooth whitening, in-office whitening performed by a dentist is the most effective and provides the fastest results. At Dr. Lindsey Marshall’s practice, we use the ZOOM! tooth whitening system. You can have whiter teeth in about an hour. Your results can be achieved in a single appointment, and you can return to work and normal activities immediately with a brighter smile.
If you live in Philadelphia and want tooth whitening, please contact Lindsey Marshall, DMD, to schedule an appointment.
